Sounds and movement evoking echoes of Kyoto
Traditional dancer Miho Sedgwick and Shamisen musician and singer Hiromi Moffat have collaborated in dance and music performances that bring sound and movement evoking echoes of Japan. This song and dance is expressing the sensitivity and emotions of people using an analogy of trees and flowers. The second is a comical song and dance about the beautiful lady Otemoyan. The final dance ‘Sakura Sakura’ (Cherry Blossoms Cherry Blossoms) is performed to a contemporary piano piece by Kozaburo Hirai. This music and dance evokes the beauty of Japan and depicts spring, the season of cherry blossom.
This will now be presented as 3 special dances on a video premiering on the City Art Centre Facebook page.
Sounds and Movement from Old Japan is presented with thanks to the Consulate-General of Japan in Edinburgh for their support.
