A lecture with a very local story. Join us for an illustrated history of the Barnton Branch Line from the opening in 1894 until its closure in 1960. Our speaker is Edinburgh local Kenneth G. Williamson. Kenneth has travelled extensively photographing trains and trams. Ken’s interest in trains and trams grew from a childhood in Granton where there was an abundance of trains, and having a dad who was tram and bus driver at Leith Depot. In 2019 Kenneth wrote a book called ‘Old Edinburgh Trams’ published by Amberley which is still available. More info on Kenneth’s website trainbuff.net.
