Fiona J Mackenzie has lived on the island of Canna for eight years, working as the Canna House archivist, but has studied the Collections of John Lorne Campbell and Margaret Fay Shaw for nearly 30 years. She is an accomplished Gaelic singer and uses her voice to embellish all of her talks and presentations about the Campbell’s work, bringing the songs and stories to life with echoes of a time long past, but now preserved though the images of Margaret Fay Shaw and the sound archive of John Campbell. She published the only collection of Shaw’s images “Eilean” in 2018 and is currently working on a biography of Shaw herself.
Join Fiona to hear the story of Hebridean Female Crofters through the lens of Margaret Fay Shaw.
This event also celebrates International Women's Day (March 8).
