Nicola Murray will give an informal illustrated talk about her art practice, looking at an eclectic back-catalogue of work inspired by her interest and training in science, including the cyanotypes that she began to develop in 2008 using material from the plant waste bays at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. Before Nicola Murray began her art training, she studied Biology at Aberdeen University then worked in the operating theatres and wards of an open-heart surgery unit as a physiological monitoring technician at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. She subsequently studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1988-92). She has often worked in series and much of her work combines photography, printmaking and digital technologies.
This event is free but booking is essential. While we hope to run this in the City Art Centre, we may have to adapt to the situation at the time and the event may need to move to digital.
