Travelling Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in a bus. Since 1978 it’s been bringing exhibitions to communities throughout Edinburgh and Scotland.
Travelling Gallery delivers an exciting and diverse exhibition programme working with local, national and international artists, both established and emerging. We aim to take contemporary art to areas with fewer art provisions, allowing equal access, community engagement and learning for all. We know that there are significant barriers to visiting a contemporary art gallery, Travelling Gallery looks to break these down by engaging audiences in their own surroundings, visiting local high streets, community centres, libraries and schools.
Travelling Gallery is a much loved and respected visual arts organisation. It is a ‘not for profit’ organisation, regularly funded by Creative Scotland and supported by the City of Edinburgh Council. 2018 marked its 40th anniversary and we take pride in the fact that Musuems & Galleries Edinburgh is committed to taking art into its communities.
