The Covid pandemic has compelled people to take to digital and online platforms to maintain contact with friends and loved ones but how did our ancestors keep connected in times of crisis and separation?
As part of current project, Auld Reekie Retold, our curatorial and collections team have uncovered an array of exquisite and evocative items which reveal the stories of how people stayed close whilst far apart.
In discussion, Curator, Victoria Garrington and Collections Assistant, Oliver Taylor will explore some of these fascinating items, shining a light on the ways people kept in touch, and revealing how museums collections can mirror the present as well as preserving the past.
The event will be chaired by Collections Engagement Officer, Russell Clegg and there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
You will be sent a joining link to this lecture the day before the event.
Please note: the talk will take place on Microsoft Office Teams, no software required to access the platform.
