Mr Reid’s brother-in-law has devised a short play about John Law, the economist, who was notorious in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as a convicted murderer, escaped prisoner, rogue, founder of the first national bank in France and one-time owner of Lauriston.
Sorley Maclean, the greatest Gaelic poet of the twentieth century, has a deep relationship with Edinburgh. He was a student in the city, and then a teacher, and it was in the city that he wrote some of his most important poetry.
