Travelling Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in a bus. Since 1978 it’s been bringing exhibitions to communities throughout Edinburgh and Scotland. We recognise that art can change lives and create fair conditions and remove barriers to allow access and engagement to audiences in their own familiar surroundings. The gallery space offers an open and welcoming environment for people of all ages, background, and abilities to discover and enjoy contemporary art.
Travelling Gallery is a much loved and respected visual arts organisation. 2018 marked its 40th anniversary and we take pride in the fact that Musuems & Galleries Edinburgh is committed to taking art into its communities.

Collection highlights
We deliver an artistic programme which inspires and engages our wide audience. We curate experimental, diverse and inclusive exhibitions that are representative of Scotland’s changing population and lead to conversation and healthy discussion. We are proud that we are able to nurture and develop young talent and give them the opportunity to exhibit alongside established artists.
The Travelling Gallery is an extremely worthwhile and useful experience for our pupils who otherwise have very limited access to art galleries and exhibitions, due to our remote location. Thank you! Shetland
